The National Dry Bean Council, founded at the beginning of 1940, represents the six producing regions of the United States. It was founded, in part, to promote the sale and consumption of beans across national and international markets, as well as acting as a liaison between Government and Industry. The National Dry Bean Council can provide information on availability, nominal values, quantities and nutritional aspects of any particular kind of bean.

You can obtain information on the different types of bean produced in California by contacting the California Bean Shippers Association and the California Dry Bean Advisory Board. The latter was created in 1970, partly to promote the region's beans. The former was founded to facilitate communication between Californian bean-sector businesses and the national and international buyers of Californian-grown beans.

Idaho
Idaho's interests as far as beans are concerned are looked after by the Western Bean Dealers Association which was founded in 1933. The Idaho Bean Commission was created in 1957 by Idaho parliamentary decree with the purpose of helping the sector's industry in the areas of research and seed production as well as in product promotion and marketing. Michigan

The Michigan Bean Commission comprises producers, grain processing warehouses, and a representative from the canning industry designated by the Governor, whose main functions are the management of market development, promotion and research into bean production in Michigan. Minnesota and North Dakota (Min/Dak)
The North Central Bean Dealers Association, created in 1977, brings together the bean-buying silo proprietors of Minnesota and North Dakota. The dispatchers of this zone work alongside the Northarvest Bean Growers Association, an entity founded in 1976 to promote the research and consumption of Minnesota and North Dakota beans. New York

Rocky Mountain Region
Since 1916, bean producers and dispatchers of Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Montana, Wyoming, Texas, Utah and New Mexico have promoted their high quality products through the Rocky Mountain Bean Dealers Association. This region is the largest producer of the Pinto and Great Northern beans in the United States, and the Association takes care of a system of quality classification which equals and even exceeds the quality regulations laid down by Government. The bean producers of Colorado and Nebraska have united to promote their products and invest in research with the aim of increasing quality and reducing production costs.
